Title: Maniac Magee
Author: Jerry Spinelli
Ages: Grades 4-6
Favorite Character: Maniac Magee

Have you ever felt like running away because you couldn’t take it anymore? Well, that’s what happened to Jeffrey Magee. Jeffrey was three when his parents had an accident. He was in Bridgeport and got moved to Hollidaysburg where his aunt and uncle lived. His aunt and uncle hated each other very much, but since they were strict Catholics they wouldn’t get a divorce. One day Jeffrey had a school play and he couldn’t take it anymore, so he ran away. Jeffrey ran to an unusual town called TwoMills. While he was running, he met many people, and well you have to read the book to find out what the rest of the story is about.
I’ll tell you my favourite part, but you might have a different favourite part when you read it. Mine was when Jeffrey untied the cobbler’s knot. This was my favourite part because I was so interested in what was going to happen next. Then finally he untied the knot, in about five or six hours. I was also surprised because he was the only person to ever successfully untie the knot. This book is also realistic fiction because anyone could feel like running away because they don’t like what’s happening in their house.
I really liked this book because I never knew what was going to happen next. Also, I felt as if I was the main character. This is because when I closed my eyes, I felt as if I was there, as the main character, in the moment.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventurous books. Also, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books where you get to think of what’s going to happen next because Jerry Spinnelli leaves you to sometimes think of what’s going to happen next. Even if you’re not someone who likes adventurous books, or books where you get to think of what’s going to happen next, you could still give it a try, because this is an AMAZING book!!!!!!!!!!
