Review: Fairy School Dropout

Title: Fairy School Dropout
Author: Meredith Badger
Ages: 7-9

Fairy School Dropout is one of my favorite books. It’s about a fairy named Elly who hates being a fairy. She can’t stand the itchy tutus, would rather ride her skateboard than fly and messes up all of her spells.

One day when Elly’s little sister was in a box called the Space-Case (You say things to it like fly downstairs and back and it does what you say) she was angry because her homework was not going well so Elly yelled to the Space-Case to ”just go AWAY!!!”  It listened to her and flew into the window of the new (human) neighbors house!

Elly flies after it and soon meets a human girl named Jess. Jess fix’s her malfunctioning wand by putting a pen through it and they become friends. But Elly never thought being friends with a human could make her life so much better.

One day when she was showing her class a spell, the pen exploded and blue ink got everywhere especially all over her teacher.  So she got sent to the head mistress’s door. Read to find out what happens next!

My favorite part was when Elly met Jess.

I really loved this book. Elly seems a lot like me even though she is a fairy.  If you like this book then you will really love the second book in the series: Fairy School Dropout Undercover.

Review: Ms. Hannah is Bananas!

Title: Ms. Hannah Is Bananas!
Author: Dan Gutman
Ages: 6-13
Best For: Girls & Boys

Ms. Hannah is Bananas is another great book in the My Weird School series. Once you get to know the main characters ( A.J. and Andrea ) you will really love the book! A.J. hates school and most of all, he hates Andrea.

The new art teacher they have is Ms. Hannah. She is very crazy. Mrs. Hannah wears dresses made out of pot holders and collects garbage instead of throwing it out. She is making a garbage ball and throwing everything that is garbage in the ball (that’s getting bigger and bigger each time they see her). Plus, she is making A.J. and Andrea be partners in a contest to draw anything you wanted.

They decided to draw a butterfly (since Andrea loves butterflies) riding a skateboard (since A.J. loves skateboards). They fight over who gets to bring it home and it rips.Their teacher sees that and sends them to the principals office. Mr. Klutz says they have to be nice to each other for one day if they wanted a candy bar. Will A.J. and Andrea get a candy bar? Will they win the contest? What will happen next?

I really really love the weird school books. They are a little young for me but I still have A LOT of their books. They are so hilarious and once you start reading them, you can’t wait to see what funny thing happens next. Trust me, about 5 times in this book you will laugh out loud. I love the way Dan Gutman writes his books.

I really wish I could meet the characters in this book. I love the whole series and I really think you should try this book. :-)

Review: Allie Finkle’s Rules for Girls: Stage Fright

Book: Allie Finkle’s Rules for Girls: Stage Fright
Author: Meg Cabot
Ages: 6-13
Best For: Girls

This book is about a 9 year old girl named Allie. Her class is putting on an original play called Princess Penelope and the Realm Of Recycling. Most of the girls in Mrs. Hunter’s class want Princess Penelope’s part including Allie and her best friend Sophie. Allie tries out for the part and finds out she doesn’t get the part of princess Penelope but Sophie does!!

Allie gets the part of the evil queen!! Allie isn’t evil. How can she play a part that is evil? This causes some pretty major problems between Allie and some other girls in school.

Can she make it through without being too evil? Will she mess up? What will happen next? Read the book to find out!! :-)

Allie is a lot like me and I would feel the same way if this story was true and I was in it.

My favorite part was when Mrs. Hunter was giving out the parts.

I loved it so much my eyes were glued to the page. I was totally lost in my book. I hope when you read this book you are too.

I like learning about other kids. It’s great to know what their lives are about, how their lives go, and what differences we have with them. I would like these kids if I met them. They seem very nice. I wish I could met them.
