Review: Kokeshi Kimonos

Book: Kokeshi Kimonos
Author: Annelore Parot
Ages: All
Best For: Girls

This book is about Kokeshis, collectable wooden dolls who wear kimonos every day. They are from Japan. The culture is very interesting. Each page shows a Kokeshi with a different personality, name, and life. You can play a lot of fun games, lift the flap and more with her. You can do challenges.

I like the book because of the little games all over the pages especially the dress-up game. It has lots of cute things, including some stuff for the dog! On the first page, you try find all the schoolgirls who are hidden by different outfits.

This book has pretty pictures and names. That’s my favorite part of the story. I love Kokeshis!!! They are Kawaii (super cute)!!

Review: The Twelve Dancing Princesses

Book: The Twelve Dancing Princesses
Author: Brigette Barrager
Ages: 3-5
Best For: Girls
Favorite Line: “The princesses descended on by one, still fast asleep.”

This book, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, would inspire any little 3, 4, or 5 year old to be anything they want to be and do anything they want to do. If I knew about it when I was younger I would have loved it. It is about 12 princesses who sleep in the garden everyday. The king needs to find a stop to it. Pip, the princesses’ shoe cleaner, is about ready to go on an adventure to find why the princesses are sleeping.

This book is fantasy. I give it 5 out of 5 stars, because it was a total package. Great drawings, great writing, and a great plot.

Review: Marsipity

Book: Marsipity
Author: Barbie McConnell
Ages: 3-6
Best For: Girls & Boys
Favorite Line: “Her fork she lifts; her posture straight and tall, then valiantly swallows-her stomach without hollows-then faintly starts to glow.”

This book, Marsipity, is short but wonderful. First of all, I loved the pictures. Second, I loved the plot. Personally, I like pumpkin pie a lot so it all works out. My favorite character is Marsipity. I read this book, and after read it 2 or 3 more times! All the things Marsipity can do with pumpkin pie just amazes me.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves pumpkin pie. Kidding! But seriously, pumpkin pie is a big part of the story. This book is probably for 3-year old’s to 6-year old’s. It’s a book I think a lot of people will or would love.

Review: Shoot for the Moon!

Book: Shoot for the Moon! Lessons on Life from a Dog Named Rudy
Author: Corinne Humphrey
Ages: 4-5
Best For: Girls and Boys
Favorite Line: “It doesn’t matter what kind of dog you are …”

This book reminded me of my dog, Oreo. I liked it because the pictures were really cute and I kept looking at all the pictures, and I enjoyed it.

Even though it was a picture book for little kids, I thought it meant to try your best on everything. The story is about a dog and you can still read the book and imagine it was a person reaching for the moon.
