Review: The Templeton Twins Have an Idea

Title: The Templeton Twins Have an Idea
Author: Ellis Weiner
Ages: 9-13
Favorite Character: Abigail and John

This book is about two twins, Abigail and John. They live with their father, Professor Elton Templeton and their dog, Cassie. They are in for a big adventure when Dean D. Dean and Dan D. Dean (more twins) kidnap them and their dog!

One reason I liked this story is because it’s adventurous. For example, when the Dean twins come to kidnap them or the Twins plan an escape. This is a good story for people who love adventure.

The best part of the book is that it’s also very funny. After the twin had meatloaf for dinner, the author stopped the story and put a recipe for meatloaf! The review questions might look boring but they are actually jokes! This book is also good for people who like funny things.
No matter who you are, you should read this book when it comes out!

Review: The Big Something

Title: The Big Something
Author:Patricia Reilly Giff
Ages: 5-8
Favorite Character: Jilli and Fiercely

Fiercely was digging a hole to China and Jilli and Jim thought the dog was lost.

Jilli thought next door there was a witch. They thought it was Hansel and Gretel’s house because the witch was on a ladder painting ice cream cones and gumdrops on the wall.

Actually she was painting a school for Jilli and Jim. And she wasn’t a witch, she was a teacher.

I liked this book because it was kind of cute how they thought the school was Hansel and Gretel’s house, so they went inside and saw a whole bunch of old stuff like gummi bears on the floor. There were also cobwebs all over the walls.

Review: Ivy + Bean – Break the Fossil Record

Book: Break the Fossil Record (Ivy + Bean, Book 3)
Author: Annie Barrows
Ages: 7-12
Best For: Girls
Favorite Line: “He stuck one hundred and fifty-nine clothespins on his face!” shouted Eric. “Look at him!”

I really liked the book. My favorite character is Bean because she wanted to break all the world records, world records I like to do.

I also liked the part where Bean discovered the bones. My favorite part of the story is when Bean and Ivy thought the bones were dinosaur bones but they were really dog bones. I want to read all the books. I’m so into this book, I couldn’t put it down. When my mom said to do something, I pretended I couldn’t hear her. This is my favorite book I read of Ivy + Bean.

Review: Cinderella Smith

Book: Cinderella Smith
Author: Stephanie Barden
Ages: 8-12
Best For: Girls
Favorite Character: Erin

Cinderella Smith is a book about a girl named Josephine but everyone calls her Cinderella because she has shoe problems. She loses shoes all the time!
I like this book because it is very funny. The things that happen to Cinderella are funny. She doesn’t know where her shoes are. She loses her tap shoe right before her dance recital. At the end, she asks a lot of questions to her friend and her friend does not know the answers.

It is kind of a mystery because Cinderella has to find her tap shoe. When she does, she gets to do the dance recital. I like the mystery and the parts with dancing in it but sometimes I wanted to read other books instead.

Review: Sisters Eight Book 1 – Annie’s Adventures

Review: Sisters Eight Book 1 – Annie’s AdventuresBook: Sisters Eight Book 1: Annie’s Adventures
Author: Lauren Baratz-Logsted
Ages: 6-10
Best For: Girls and Boys
Favorite Character: Georgia

This book is about eight octuplets named Annie, Durinda, Georgia, Jackie, Marcia, Petal, Rebecca, and Zinnia. Annie is the oldest, and Zinnia is the youngest. They are each exactly one minute apart from the next. On New Years Eve they were celebrating Christmas, 2007 and their mommy did not come back from the kitchen, and their daddy did not come back from the shed with firewood. I can’t even imagine how scary that would be for me, and I am nine!

One day, a few days after their parents went missing, Annie found a note under the old loose floorboard in the drawing room explaining that each twin had a power and a gift and they were each to find out themselves. Of course, as the oldest ( by one minute ) Annie decided to take charge. But with everything going on, it was very, very hard to.

I would recommend this book to anyone who really knows how to crawl themselves into a good book like this one. I liked the book because it always kept me thinking, “what’s going to happen next? what’s going to happen next?”

I also love how Lauren Baratz-Logsted, Greg Logsted, and Jackie Logsted all teamed up to write this book. I was kind of confused at first how they kept writing first-person but then said all the names of the twins. It made me think there was somebody else in the room, examining them. But at the very last page I figured it all out! I hope to review book two, Durinda’s Dangers!
